On January 15th, 2017, Brittany was blessed to bring home the crown to her home state of Kentucky as Miss Rodeo USA. History was made as for the first time in 51 years, the coveted crown became associated with a Kentucky cowgirl. “I am so honored and blessed with the opportunity to represent the IPRA and the western way of life. I can’t wait to promote the greatest sport on dirt and travel across the country as your Miss Rodeo USA 2017.”
Brittany comes from a small town in western Kentucky, where she grew up with a love for animals. Her passion for animals led her to attend college at Murray State University, join the rodeo team, and major in Animal Health Technology. She obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in Agriculture degree in 2014 and became a board certified Licensed Veterinary Technologist. Brittany enjoys educating clients on the health of their large and small animals.
Brittany is the daughter of Mickey and Debbie Howard and has an older brother, Chad. “Family means everything to me and that’s what I love about rodeo. It is a family-oriented sport that upholds the strong values of hard work, respect, and focus to achieve what you want in life.” Brittany is grateful to have a wonderful family that supports her in her goals in life.
Although she claims Kentucky as her home-state, Brittany also represented Georgia upon entering the 2017 pageant. As Miss Sunbelt Rodeo Queen, a representative of “North America’s Premier Farm Show”, she knows the connection between agriculture and rodeo. Brittany believes it is important to keep alive the western heritage, family farms, and local rodeos for generations to come.
During her year, she will strive to promote her platform of “Stay Focused on the Ride.” In her journey as she travels over 100,000 miles across the country, Brittany plans to educate others on the importance of setting goals and achieving your dreams. Her dream has become a reality as she serves the International Professional Rodeo Association as their Miss Rodeo USA 2017. Brittany states, “I have my amazing family, friends, committee, supporters, and sponsors to thank for helping me to achieve my goal.”
