2017 Miss Rodeo USA Contestant
Miss Murray State University Rodeo
Hometown: Paducah, KY
Why do you want to be Miss Rodeo USA 2017?
When I close my eyes and imagine the past I remember being the “weird horse girl” in middle school. In high school I heard the adults laughing, asking, “Why do you have horses anyway? You’ll never make any money with them!” Drinks getting thrown at me at a fast food job, I had to work a part time job to afford work in the industry, to be at the top some day. I would come home from those bad days, and go on a ride, shutting my eyes and breathing it in, I could just feel it. There was never a shining moment when I decided to be a rodeo queen. I can tell you the moment when I wanted to wear a pretty crown and ride my horse around the arena, but that isn’t being a rodeo queen. Wanting to be Miss Rodeo USA came with maturity, every girl would kill to be you, until they realize the work that goes into it. I want to be Miss Rodeo USA because I thrive in the hard situations and am more than excited to put in the hard work. It is my time to put in that hard work with dignity and grace to show that the rodeo industry is not only alive, but it is thriving. I intend to be apart of the next generation of rodeo influencers and mold this sport into something that will excel while this crazy world changes. There is nothing wrong with having your values challenged, as long as you stay true to them. I will never be above working an unglamorous job to continue my passion. I am still that weird horse girl and I hope to spark that fire inside people needing guidance who are just like me. That is what Miss Rodeo USA and the International Professional Rodeo Association is all about.
