All words to describe how I have been feeling throughout the Miss Rodeo USA Journey. I still can’t believe I, Megan Kelly, am Miss Rodeo USA 2025! My journey to MRUSA officially began three years ago when I prepared and competed in January of 2023. Having the opportunity to come to Oklahoma was the most amazing experience, and after placing second runner-up, I was feeling so thankful for the support and immense love that I had been showered in. Coming home in 2023 from pageant, I knew that I didn’t need a crown to make a difference, so I continued to coach, mentor, and emcee for 2 different local pageant organizations. Fast forward to a few months ago, I felt a calling to come back and compete once more. So, I filled out the MRUSA application and submitted it with no doubts of where I would be the week of the pageant- this California girl was going to make the drive to Oklahoma once more! Then came January 8th, 2025, the day we hit the road and officially began the trip to Guthrie! *A funny side-note: On the road from CA to OK prior to the pageant, my mom and I were stuck on I-40 for over 18 hours as the road was closed due to a snow storm just prior to Amarillo, TX. We made the most out of it and ended up having a great time together! Memories, right?* The week of pageant was a great experience- I made new best friends (us contestants had so much fun together!), many memories (like breaking my coffee pot trying to make a cute facebook video, it was hilarious!), and was privileged to ride a couple amazing Five Star Quarter Horses. Then came coronation day- I remember waking up, clearing out my hotel room, spending a few short minutes with my family, and having the most overwhelming sense of gratitude. Gratitude towards my support system, family, community, Lakeside Optimist Club, Bulls Only Rodeo Committee, and so many more. The day went by so quickly. It felt like one minute I was signing tear sheets at the OG&E Kid’s day, then the next minute, I was doing my very first hotlap as Miss Rodeo USA 2025! It was everything that I had dreamed of, and more! Fast forward to the week following- my mom and I went to Arkansas to Sherry Smith’s home studio for the first official photoshoot. Then, Sherry, JoAnne, my mom and I all loaded up once again for a trip to Texas for the WESA Trade Show, where I was able to connect with so many of our wonderful MRUSA Sponsors and even meet some new ones! We also held our second official photoshoot at the Fort Worth Stock Yards- which I had never been to but has always been high on the bucket list! We made the trip back home and I was welcomed with my entire front porch decorated with “Welcome Home” balloons, signs, and love! The Miss Bulls Only Rodeo Queen family came by my house to surprise me– It was amazing and so thoughtful! I am so excited and honored to have just earned the title of Miss Rodeo USA 2025, and can’t wait to make the most out this year! I am unbelievably thankful to the committee, judges, contestants, and families for making this the most amazing week of my life! Megan Kelly Miss Rodeo USA 2025 Mission: Mentorship January 28, 2025
