Heather Morrison
Miss Leon Rodeo
Letts, IA
Age: 25

I am the twenty five year old daughter of Steve and Linda Morrison, raised as a farmer’s daughter on the southeast side of Iowa. I attended Louisa-Muscatine High School, graduating in 2010. I attended Kirkwood Community College where I obtained my degrees in Beef and Swine Production and Agriculture Geospatial Technology in 2015. I was the first and only member of my household to attain my college degree. I began my professional career in the agricultural industry when I took a position at Van Wall Equipment as a service writer. Working full time in my career, I still make time for rodeo; I serve as the Miss Leon Rodeo Queen and also attend local barrel events. During my spare time I support Camp Sunnyside and act as a member of the Pony Express Riders of Iowa. As a member we raise money to support families who are living with disabilities.

Why do you want to be Miss Rodeo USA 2018?

The title of Miss Rodeo USA is an honorable position, representing the sport of rodeo and the western way of life. It allows the opportunity to travel the country, sharing our love for the western heritage that flows richly in the sport. All of these things have been a passion of mine since I was young; agriculture was a large part of my family and community. Growing up in this environment presented countless opportunities, many of which, are incomparable to those who have grown up in different lifestyles. This drives my advocacy and desire to share those experiences with people. Lessons I learned on the family farm, traveling through school and community functions, and ventures I undertook on my own have all lead me to this: the deep roots and passion, poise and composure, and the understanding of rodeo and its western heritage, have all prepared me to be the best candidate for Miss Rodeo USA 2018.
